GINGE & JOHN

"I’ve been climbing for 35 years, maybe a bit longer."

"How did you get into climbing ?"

"At school, then I ended up sharing a house in London with John, I was looking for a climbing partner and we’ve been climbing together on and off ever since."

"We learned to climb in a different era. We’re so trad that neither of us owns a chalk bag or a bouldering mat. But I do a bit of bouldering when Ginge isn’t around. I practise indoors during the winter, at The Works. Climbing is one of the things that defines me. It’s something I wouldn’t want to lose, you know, before I’d give up other things."
